About the Owner

Born & raised in Pittsfield, chef/owner David Barile opened On a Roll Cafe in 2003.


After attending Berkshire Community College, graduating with an Associates Degree in Hotel/Restaurant Management and a Certificate in Culinary Arts, David attended Johnson & Wales University in Providence RI. There he received an AOS in Culinary Arts and a Bachelors degree in Food & Beverage Management.


After working for years in some of Boston’s finest hotels including Marriott Copley Place and the Four Seasons, David moved back to Pittsfield to start his family. While working as Sous Chef at a cafe in Lenox and the Red Lion Inn in Stockbridge, his daughters Emma & Grace were born! Knowing he needed flexibility to raise his girls, he started On a Roll Cafe in a small location in Pittsfield. Catching on quickly and growing rapidly, more space was needed. Thus On a Roll Café & Catering Co, Inc was reinvented at 75 North Street, in Pittsfield. After 14 years in Pittsfield, David embraced the opportunity to move his business to 55 Pittsfield Road, Lenox.


Since opening in 2003, On a Roll Cafe & Catering Co. Inc. has expanded its hours of operation, being open 7 days a week serving breakfast & lunch. 


On a Roll Cafe & Catering Co. also has an extensive catering menu. From a small intimate get-together to the large event, we can cater it like no other. Our menu includes a unique selection of ideas, but other items are available upon request.
